Most agencies have a kiosk located just to the right outside of the baggage claim area. Don’t waste your time standing in line there. This is NOT the rental agency. It’s just a kiosk. There are free shuttles to the car lots located behind the kiosks. Walk straight through the door at the back wall.

Make sure to visit one of the many events at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center (MACC) where you can enjoy theater and music productions and experience Hawaiian culture. Kanaha Beach Park can be quickly reached from Kahului Airport (OGG) and will wow you with its perfect conditions for windsurfing and kitesurfing.
Kahana Pond State Wildlife Sanctuary, a scenic wetlands home to dozens of species of birds, is close nearby as well. Picturesque Wailuku is only a few miles away. Further along is Iao Valley State Park, with its lush rainforest and stream-cut valley.
On the other side of West Maui, you can immerse yourself in the historic town of Lahaina while enjoying its fine restaurants and beaches. For sightseeing adventures, a visit to the Haleakala Crater — one of the most breath-taking experiences on Maui — is a must-do. And there is the famous Road to Hana, which leads you across the island while driving through spectacular landscapes with many attractions along the way — notably the Garden of Eden Arboretum & Botanical Garden, Puaa Kaa State Wayside Park, Nahiku Marketplace and Waianapanapa State Park. Arriving in heavenly Hana, you will find a perfect remote Maui town where you will feel like you were transported back in time to a simpler way of life. And about 10 miles past Hana, you will find Oheo Gulch, home to the spectacular Seven Sacred Pools.
The narrow streets in Kahului are very picturesque, but they are more difficult to navigate than wider roads. If you plan to explore many towns and villages, a Compact car is always a great choice. For longer road trips and with larger travel groups, SUVs are a good option.
In the Kahului area there are many street parking options, but generally only for a limited amount of time as — for the most part — parking cars overnight on public roads is not allowed. So, for longer durations or overnight parking, if you are staying at a hotel, they may have parking available.
Always drive at a moderate speed as streets are generally narrow. On freeways you can drive a maximum of 55 mph. In residential areas, or in areas where children are in the vicinity, such as near schools and leisure centers, 25 mph is the maximum speed limit.
